NMA Writes to New Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright

The News Media Association has written to Jeremy Wright QC Wright and offered to brief the new Culture Secretary on the key issues affecting the news media industry.  

DCMS has been leading on a number of initiatives of critical importance to the news media sector, most notably the Cairncross Review into the sustainability of high quality journalism.

Mr Wright was appointed Culture Secretary this week, replacing Matt Hancock who became Health Secretary.

Mr Wright was Attorney General from 15 July 2014 to 9 July 2018. He was elected the Conservative MP for Kenilworth and Southam in 2010.

He studied at the Inns of Court School of Law and was called to the bar in 1996, specialising in criminal law (both prosecution and defence).

Mr Wright served as a member of the Justice Committee and founded the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia in 2007.

He was made an Opposition Whip in 2007 and became a Government Whip in 2010. He was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Justice in 2012.

Mr Wright is married with a daughter and a son.
